Citations, Formatting, and Me

I am keenly aware that I’m missing citations for things that might not bother anyone else but that definitely bother me as I read through that first actual post. I’ll try to get better about that over time – for now I’m just copying things written elsewhere forward.

I’ve got some other weird content I’ll be adding besides the ‘real vs. star wars’ stuff. My daughter had asked me to write about general science themes (I started with Trilobites for some reason? Am I ok?) so I have some of that coming. I’m not sure if that will be less or more interesting, but I couldn’t figure out how to get the WordPress plugin that makes reading these mandatory to work correctly, so you get a break there.

My Star Wars references are from the movies and shows , but also from comics and novels, so I may be referencing things that aren’t in the films most folks are familiar with. The other stuff…I’m sourcing from things I know or have heard of, and fact checking against Wikipedia, reddit, government sites, and just generally searching for things. I don’t have any kind of real background in anything besides agriculture and IT (mostly infosec anymore), but I’m a huge nerd and I’ve picked up a lot by just reading about science and being more prone than is probably healthy about fact checking things I hear or read about. I believed some weird stuff grownups told me as a kid and that may have made me a bit sensitive about accidentally believing ridiculous things. : )

I spend a lot of time working with technology but solidly backend stuff. Networking, app / servers support, mainframes for a short bit (it was a weird time, I was working some stuff out). I am really good at fixing technology of all kinds…and really terrible at using it for it’s intended purpose. It would be funny if it weren’t so…well no, it’s just hilarious. The point is…UI design is very firmly my dump stat. This site is currently using the most basic ‘only for testing because no human would use it for real right?’ WP template, with all (most) of the default settings. It looks clean and easy to read for me, so it probably hurts to look at for most people…I’ll try to have someone help me figure out how to make it more eyeball friendly at some point – for now you have my apologies.
